Phlebotomy
The following specimens are collected into transport media (e.g. IMDM, RPMI) . Do not add formalin or other fixative . Fine needle aspirates, Tissue biopsy and scrapings - collected into transport media (e.g. IMDM, RPMI). Pleural and ascites fluids do not require addition of any media.

Preliminary verbal results to a referring pathologist may be available within 36-hours of specimen receipt, Monday to Friday.
All results and morphology are reviewed by a Haematologist with an interpretive comment being an essential part of the final report.
Turnaround time is up to 5 working days however, depending on the complexity of the case and whether additional studies are required, the final report may take 7 working days.
