Phlebotomy

Fresh random urine or bronchial wash collected into a small, clean plastic container.

  • The specimen must not come into contact with any metal containing iron.
  • Send specimen to laboratory as soon as possible after collection.

    Transport at ambient temperature (8-24°C).

    Sample Stability

    Processed and slides made preferably the same day. Unpreserved urine for a hemosiderin test is stable for 2 hours at room temperature, up to 24 hours to 7 days refrigerated.
