It is ESSENTIAL that the ward liaises with the laboratory prior to collecting the samples. For pre-arrangement, please contact: Lablink.
Specimen Requirements:
Timed samples after the end of the 2-hour infusion (once-a-day regime):
15 mins (T 2.25) , 1 hour (T3), 2 hours (T4), 6 hours (T8). All samples are required.
Additional Specimen Information
Record collection times ACCURATELY on the individual specimen request form. Special Busulphan TDM request forms should be used (obtainable through Toxicology section at Labplus).
For same day results, the final specimen must be received at the laboratory by 7:30am.
IMPORTANT:
Samples to be centrifuged, separated, and frozen within 2 hrs of collection.
Gel tubes are NOT acceptable
Micro Heparin tubes can be accepted from paediatric patients when required - however they must be dark green top and must be separated as soon as possible after arrival.
