Sample Stability
The nerve should be placed immediately in 10% neutral buffered formalin with minimal handling. Stable in ambient temperature.

Final reporting follows the RCPA performance benchmarks: 80% of cases reported within 5 working days. 90% of cases are reported within 10 working days and 98% of cases reported within 15 working days. Turnaround times will vary based on the complexity of the sample and resourcing of the laboratory. Please indicate if the specimen is urgent or if there is a clinic date when results are needed.

Laboratory Notification
• At least 24 hours prior to the procedure, the histology cut‑up room or one of the pathologists who report nerve biopsies (Dr. Clinton Turner or Dr. Amanda Charlton) must be notified.
