Pre-testing Requirements
For workplace testing, a casual specimen of urine should be collected not less than 24 hours after welding and preferably later in the week.
Falsely high results will result if the urine is in contact with any metal object such as a container, syringe or needle.
Additional Specimen Information
24 hour urine collected in a plastic bottle (non-acidified is preferred)
Random urine specimen in a plain container
Acidified samples are acceptable.
Contamination is less likely to occur with spot urine samples than with 24h collections.
If both Chromium and Cobalt are requested, only one sample need be collected.
