A basic coagulation screen includes a fibrinogen as well as Prothrombin Ratio and APTT

The Fibrinogen assay used is based on a von Clauss principle where diluted patient plasma is clotted using a strong thrombin reagent.The clotting time is compared to a standard curve of time vs g/L of fibrinogen.
