Pre-Testing Requirements - Obtain special tube from Endolab. Store frozen until use.
Draw the blood sample with a syringe; needle and then transfer about 3ml of the blood from the syringe to the green labelled PTHrP cocktail tube and mix the contents gently with 4 or 5 inversions. AS soon as possible centrifuge and transfer the plasma to the black labelled plastic aliquot tube provided (labelled "PTHrP plasma only") within 15 minutes of collection. Store and transport frozen.
Note: the PTHrP cocktail tube should be used straight from the freezer - no warming or heating required.
Collection instructions:

Keep tubes ON ICE until blood is collected via syringe.
Deliver to lab URGENTLY for separation within 15 mins.
Limited stock of cocktail tubes kept in freezer at Laboratory NSH.
Laboratory instruction:
Immediately centrifuge green tube at 4'C
Transfer plasma to black aliquot tube labelled "PTHrP Plasma"
Store and transport FROZEN
