If other biochemistry is requested requiring a heparin specimen, please collect a separate tube for the vitamin B1

Chemical Pathologist approval is required for this test. Heparin tube cannot be shared with other tests

Send to the laboratory immidiately as it needs special processing required within 2 hours of collection (see Canterbury Health Laboratory website for instructions)

Register with a dedicated lab number. Give specimen to Biochemistry for haemolysate preparation
