Collection instructions:
Note: Plasma Catecholamine requests now registered as Plasma Metanephrine (unless pathologist approved).
Please collect a purple top EDTA tube. Refer to the Plasma Metanephrine test guide entry for further information.
Patient preparation: Smoking and caffeine may cause false-positive results. Blood sampling may be done in the sitting position, as for routine blood sampling. However, the specificity of the test is improved if the patient is rested supine for 30 min. with a pre-cannulated IV line.

As Catecholamines - Plasma it is a Sendaway test to Royal Brisbane Hospital lab
If there is an EDTA received register Plasma Metanephrines, code: PMET, or recollect for an EDTA.
If it is approved by a pathologist register as UNCT and send with the copy of the form.
Store and transport the plasma frozen (ideally at -80C).
