Tube/Container Type:

• CSF sterile tubes (Routine Analysis)

Inquire in Microbiology in case CSF preservative fluid is required.
It is likely one of the CSF tubes is already in pink preservative as it should be.

These samples may request routine tests M/C/S and Protein/Glucose.
Register the code CSF as well in this instance.
Microbiology will process the sample at NSH/Waitakere first before returning it to Specimen Services for on send to Lab+ for Flow Cytometry/Cell Markers.

IMPORTANT: CSF must be sent URGENTLY to LabPlus regardless of time of arrival.

Put through the Sendaway programme as normal
Store and transport at ROOM TEMPERATURE
