Collection instructions:

IMPORTANT: must be PRE-ARRANGED with Waikato Lab and North Shore Haematology laboratory department.

Collection :
MONDAY TO WEDNESDAY before 12noon ONLY. Bloods must be sent to A+ in day of collection.

SPECIMEN COLLECTION:
EDTA (EDTA bloods from 5 normal people bled at approx the same time are selected by the Laboratory Haematology dept and are sent with the patient's EDTA sample) .
Send to laboratory promptly. Maintain at 4'C and send all specimens to labPlus on ice.
Sample must be collected prior to a blood transfusion for at least 60 days from any previous blood transfusion.
Volume: 4 mL EDTA blood (adult) or 1 mL EDTA blood (paediatric).

Laboratory instruction:

Separate lab number from other Sendaway tests.
Bloods must be sent to A+ in day of collection.
EDTA-whole blood.
Maintain all specimens at 4'C. Send on ice.
Testing must be carried out within 24hrs of collection.
