Laboratory Handling

Phlebotomy

  • Routine Service: Monday to Friday.
  • Limited service on a Saturday. Samples must be received at LabPlus by 11am on a Saturday. Samples received after this time will not be tested.
  • This service will not be available on a public holiday, or weekends associated with public holidays.
  • For weekdays prior to a public holiday, specimens must be received at LabPlus by 2pm to allow testing.
  • Request for urgent testing outside these hours must be approved by the laboratory Immunologist on-call.

    Transport

    Transport at ambient temperature (8-24°C).
    Do not spin.

    Please register test code LYM.

    Test Adds Requirement

  • Unspun heparin (preferred) or EDTA blood sample <30-hours post collect. Minimum volume 1ml.
  • Paediatric micro-samples minimum volume 0.5ml.

    Sample Stability

  • Heparin blood samples: 48-hours.
  • EDTA blood samples: 24-hours.
