Sample Stability

4-8°C for up to 10 days. For longer storage should be frozen within 8 hours of collection. Once frozen, serum is stable for up to 2 months at -20°C

Pre-testing Requirements

Requests for serum protein electrophoresis in a patient who already has a result reported in the last 25 days, will be automatically declined.

In the rare circumstance that more frequent testing is clinically indicated (e.g., light chain nephropathy), please contact the laboratory within 7 days to reinstate.
