Phlebotomy

  • Collect 1 x 2.7ml Citrate (Blue Cap).
  • Paediatric: collect 2 x 1ml Citrate microtainer.
  • EDTA destroys ADAMTS-13 activity, so it is important to collect/fill citrate specimen(s) before EDTA specimens to avoid EDTA contamination.
  • Collection tubes must be adequately filled.

    Transport

    Hand deliver transparent/clear top Citrate tubes to Coagulation section - DO NOT PLACE ON 8100.

    If requests are received with no prior discussion they will not be processed.
