Transport

Transport MRD samples at 4 o C without delay. Do not spin or freeze.

Separating

EDTA - Do not spin.

Turnaround Time

5 days

  • Preliminary verbal results to a referring pathologist may be available within 36 hours of specimen receipt, Monday to Friday.
  • All results and morphology are reviewed by a Haematologist with an interpretive comment being an essential part of the final report.
  • Turnaround time is up to 5 working days however, depending on the complexity of the case and whether additional studies are required, the final report may take 7 working days.

    Pre-testing Requirements

    For referred samples from other centers, a completed Mandatory Information Sheet is required. Please email this to the Flow Cytometry laboratory at flow@adhb.govt.nz. Please supply the courier tracking number.

    Additional Specimen Information

    Diagnostic Bone Marrow (BM) Sample 2ml EDTA BM aspirate
    If BM is a dry tap, send 4ml EDTA peripheral blood
    Follow-up MRD time points

  • Post cycle 2 bone marrow
  • Post consolidation/pre-transplant
  • Surveillance after end of treatment (EOT)
    		• 3-4ml EDTA BM aspirate from first aspiration.
    (2x 2ml aliquots in lavender top EDTA tubes. To avoid clots do not add more than 2ml BM to an EDTA tube).
    Peripheral Blood is not suitable for MRD time-points.
