Additional Referral/Aliquot Information

Samples sent to LabPlus from outside the Auckland region:

Adult: 4 mL whole blood collected into a non-gel Heparin tube.

Paediatric: Microcollect 0.5 mL non-gel Heparin tube.

Transport at 4 degrees.
Sample age limit: Testing must be performed within 48 hours of collection.

Test Method

Flow Cytometry

Testing is performed Monday - Friday only.

Request form must indicate if the sample is pre -blood transfusion.

Samples received after 3pm on a Friday (or on the day before a statutory holiday) will not be tested, unless they are pre-blood transfusion samples and prior arrangements have been made with the laboratory. A recollect will be required.
