2 mL EDTA Bone Marrow (Always Required). Multiple EDTA tubes are acceptable. Note: if unable to obtain a BM aspirate, a trephine biopsy may be sent in sterile saline.

Transport at 4 degrees without delay. Do not spin or freeze.

Preliminary verbal results to a referring pathologist may be available within 36-hours of specimen receipt, Monday to Friday.
Turnaround time is up to 5 working days however, depending on the complexity of the case and whether additional studies are required, the final report may take 7 working days.

Additional Specimen Information

Note; maximum of 2mls of Bone Marrow Aspirate should be placed in a 4ml EDTA tube to avoid clotting.
