Diagnostic Use and Interpretation:
The DHT/testosterone ratio is decreased in steroid 5-alpha reductase deficiency, a rare cause of ambiguous sexual development. DHT measurement is useful in the investigation of ambiguous genitalia.

It has no other diagnostic uses and is not useful in the context of suspected testosterone/gonadal insufficiency.
