Collection instructions:
Requestor must contact Labplus Anatomical Pathology Dept for advice before collecting the sample.
Specimen MUST be received by labplus no later than 4pm Monday - Friday.
Biopsy samples are either sent directly to Labplus by the originating ward or by Surgical Pathology if they are NSH samples.
Laboratory instruction:
NS: Take sample to Surgical Pathogy. In the unlikely event that one is received outside normal work hours, refer the requestor to the Surgical Pathology On call technician.
Waitakere: No registration is required. Please fill out the surgical pathology specimens receipt sheet and send it to NSH via scheduled courier to be delivered to Surgical Pathology.
Michel's transport Medium (MTM) vial for direct immunofluorescence is available on request from Waitakere Specimen Services Surgical path tray in fridge and the blood collection fridge at Waitakere Outpatients clinic.
Specimen remains stable in the MTM vial for up to 7 days.
