This test is used to differentiate vitamin K deficiency/warfarin therapy from liver disease or other causes of reduced Prothrombin.
The laboratory will automatically perform an Echis ratio on samples with a Prothrombin Ratio of greater or equal to 1.5.
If the Prothrombin Ratio is greater or equal to 1.5 and an Echis ratio has not been performed in the last 72 hours the laboratory will automatically perform an Echis Ratio.
