Tube/Container Type:

Preferred

• CSF sterile tubes (Routine Analysis)

Haematology patients only.
Inquire in Microbiology in case CSF preservative fluid is required.
It is likely one of the CSF tubes is already in pink preservative as it should be.
Ask Microbiology for a 'yellow sticker' to place on the biohazard bag.

These samples may request routine tests M/C/S and Protein/Glucose. These test are not processed at NSH/Waitakere. All testing will be done at LabPlus.

Codes:

CMCC - For Flow Cytometry/Cell Markers/Cytology(Tumour Cytology)

MCSC - for M/C/S and Protein/Glucose if requested.

IMPORTANT: CSF must be sent URGENTLY to LabPlus regardless of time of arrival.

Put through the Sendaway programme as normal
Store and transport at ROOM TEMPERATURE
