Pre-testing Requirements

- Fasting is NOT required.
- Preferably conducted in the morning.
- If the patient arrives in a fasted state or after 11am testing will still be allowed.
- The patient will be given 50grams of Gluco-TT solution (350mls) to drink. It should be consumed within 5 minutes.
- The patient should stay at the waiting area and abstain from coffee, alcohol, food, gum, smoking or exercise throughout the procedure.
- After 60 minutes, a blood sample will be collected into Fluoride tube (grey top).
- The specimen should be transported promptly to the Biochemistry laboratory.
