Register for UMYO , and hand deliver urine sample to Front-end Automation staff for analysis.

Analyse all samples as soon as possible on receipt in laboratory.
Sample Stability
Fresh random urine processed within 5 hours of collection.
Specimens processed more than 5 hours post collection and have a pH <8 get an automatic comment added as degradation may have occurred.

Additional Specimen Information
Quantitative Urine myoglobin analysis is no longer offered as there is no validated method available.
- Samples will be screened using a sensitive dipstick which detects the presence / absence of both myoglobin and haemoglobin.
- Suggest serum/plasma myoglobin instead, as raised serum/plasma myoglobin level is better predictive marker of acute renal failure than urine myoglobin level.
