SPECIMEN COLLECTION
- 1 x 10 mL CPD tube

Do not separate or refrigerate specimens.
Tissue Typing (CPDA) tubes are available on request from Out-Patient's Laboratory.
Specific volumes of blood to be collected on advice from NZBS-N, Tissue Typing Department.
Full clinical particulars and patient's race must be indicated on request form.

Prior booking with Tissue Typing laboratory required (09-523 5731).

REFERENCE INTERVAL:
Approximately 8% of the NZ Caucasian population are HLA-B27 positive. The B27 antigen is not related to the normal population. The frequency of the antigen is dependent on the ethnic population.

DIAGNOSTIC USE:
Disease association: (B27, coeliac, narcolepsy, B57)

There are now 11 alleles of B27, B*2701-B*27011
HLA-B27 Lymphocytotoxicity at NZBS-N - daily.

This analysis is performed once a month. The specimen must be received by 20th of each month, and must be fully labelled with FULL NAME, PATIENT NUMBER, DATE OF BIRTH, and DATE OF COLLECTION.
