Stored at 2-8°C for 7 days. Longer storage or storage at -20°C causes denaturation and alteration of the mobilities of lipoproteins.

Lipoprotein electrophoresis of non-serum body fluids like pleural, ascitic, urine or drain fluids to look for chylomicrons (for presence of chyle leakage) is not a fully validated nor IANZ-accredited method.
