Malaria PCR Is used for speciation where this cannot be done my microscopy and is restricted to patients with parasites on thick/thin films.
Send away for Malaria PCR MUST be approved by a haematologist prior to being sent.
These are sent to Canterbury Health Laboratories.

Turnaround Time: Within 1 day. Transported to Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL) for processing; turn-around time is <24-hours from arrival at CHL.
