Pre-testing Requirements

Urgent vasculitis testing is restricted and must be approved prior to testing. Requests during normal working hours must be approved by phoning either the immunopathologist, immunopathology registrar, or a senior member of the autoimmune serology team. Any request that is not approved will be treated as routine.

Urgent requests outside of normal working hours must be approved by phoning the on-call immunopathologist. After hours testing may be performed at Labplus or North Shore Laboratory.

Please note that anti-GBM testing is not part of the urgent ANCA vasculitis screen and needs to be specifically requested (please refer to the "Anti-GBM antibody" page on the test guide).

Additional Specimen Information

Notify the autoimmune serology team in normal working hours 08:00 to 17:00 (Mon to Fri).

Following immunopathologist approval after hours: The on call Labplus scientist is available between 08:00 to 18:00 (Sat & Sun); Samples received between 16:30 to 08:00 (Mon to Fri) or 18:00 to 08:00 (Sat & Sun) must be sent to North Shore Hospital laboratory for testing.

A senior autoimmune scientist will notify specimen reception if any samples need to be sent to North Shore Laboratory outside of these specified hours.
