Collection instructions:
1. Requests for this test must be arranged by contacting a LabPlus Haematologist. If requests are received with no prior discussion, they will not be processed.
2. Please provide requestor contact phone details on the request form.
3. EDTA destroys ADAMTS-13 activity so important to collect/fill citrate specimen(s) before EDTA specimen to avoid EDTA contamination.
4. Specimen must be spun and separated within 2 hours of collection.
5. Collection tubes must be adequately filled.
Laboratory instruction:
Haematologist's approval required.
Spin and deliver to haematology with a copy of the form and any remaining numbers. Haematology will complete processing.
Specimen must double spin and separated (minimum 1 mL) within 2 hours of collection.
Haemolysed specimens may be unsuitable for testing.
Specimen is transported FROZEN.
