Specimen type:
Genital ulcer/chancre swab in VTM
Placental tissue - fresh or formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE)
Aptima swab is not suitable

This test is performed in a weekly batch.

Specimens received in the Microbiology laboratory before 1000 hours on Monday will be processed that day and the result available on Wednesday.

Specimens arriving after 1000 hours on Monday will be held and processed in the follow Monday's batch.

For all other sample types discuss with clinical microbiologist.
